I'm happy to introduce to you, Demetria Rupkey - a new writer friend of mine. I think after you read a little about her - you'll be wanting to know more. Please read her bio below and check out her literary reads - you'll be glad that you did...!
I am a Life Coach, Ordained Minister, Student, Wife and a Mother / Stepmother of five children. Our children are 19,18,15,14 and 7. I am also an abuse survivor that writes with a passion for helping others travel the road to recovery. I fully understand what it feels like to be a victim of abuse as well as how deeply i...t can affect all areas of your life.
From the ages of 5 to 14 I was a victim of sexual abuse, incest and rape. The things I endured in silence through those years put my life in a catastrophic state. I led a troubled life for quite a while, to say the least. I became a wife and teen mother at just 16 years old; it was a very difficult time in my life. My ex-husband was a very abusive person. I endured 2 years of beatings, mental abuse and emotional abuse. In that time frame we had two kids together. The last beating I took left me very visibly battered and bruised; I left with the kids and just two diapers and the clothes on our backs. The kids and I went to a shelter and slowly I had to build a life for us. It was not enough for him to abuse me – as I later learned – he sexually abused and raped our children. He is now serving 30 years in prison.
I had four kids by the time I was 21 and the kids and I struggled – but we made it together. It is amazing where determination can get you. Three of my children have Asperger’s Syndrome and they are wonderful people and great kids! All of my children and my step daughter are more than we could have ever asked for. What children bring to your life is nothing short of miraculous. In my early 20's I met a woman who would have a profound effect on my life, someone who would teach me what it was to be a survivor. She was a Life Coach that I just happened to literally bump into at a grocery store. Everything I was feeling and thinking must have been written all over my face because she picked up on it immediately. Within a couple days we were working together on a regular basis. I will never forget the things she taught me – she was truly destined to be a Life Coach.
I met my husband in 2006. We had a whirlwind relationship from the very beginning. We just connected on every level, I was not even aware that feelings like those existed. We were married by 2008 and I thank my lucky stars each day that he and his daughter are a part of our lives. Until him I never knew what complete trust and honesty meant.
My coaching methodologies did not come from therapists, councilors or textbook knowledge but from personal experience. I do not teach or write about anything that I have no personal knowledge in. It is my passion to help other people gain the life and respect they so deserve.
