A “Guide For Managing Your Life, Before and After the Unthinkable Occurs”

Five Stars: A “Guide For Managing Your Life, Before and After the Unthinkable Occurs”

Maurcia Delean Houck, author of “Living Life After Divorce & Widowhood: Financial Planning, Skills and Strategies for When the Unthinkable Happens” is an organized, detailed guide – a self-help book, directed towards living your life and securing your finances after divorce and the sudden death of a spouse.

In this book, the author gives a reader the ammunition to arm themselves against financial devastations and the sudden loss of self-worth. As a reader, I felt the author went to great lengths to structure each category of information as an easy read. However, this book does not just serve those who have experienced divorce or the loss of a loved one, it is a path to follow for anyone wanting advice on preparing for such an occurrence.

Equally impressive was the chapter with regard to children of divorce. The author gives ten basic ways you can help your child better cope with either situation. Simply stated the advice given is immensely important to their well-being.

In the appendix alone are over fifty informative links to professionals such as State Higher Education Agencies, Bereavement Sources, and legal help. I was truly impressed with the amount of educational and instructive material found among the 288 pages. This book is a resourceful piece of literature -- a go to manual for anyone contemplating divorce, newly divorced, looking to have their spirit lifted in time of bereavement, and help in securing their assets.
